Highlights of the Kips Bay Dinner Dance Cruise

This year's event was a tremendous success! With a dedicated committee we continue to raise funds and sponsor the children of Kips Bay.  Our sponsors are dedicated to the vision of the Kips Bay Designers and continue to support the event. The evening was absolutely perfect, with weather around 80 degrees and clear skies.  Dan Quintero, Director of the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club of New York, honored both Charles Pavarini III and Sarah L. Boles for their continuing support of the charity.  Over the years, Charles and Sarah have worked together to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club of New York, and their incredible dedication has helped thousands of kids from the boroughs to focus on their talents and become involved scholastic and recreational activities outside the classroom.

CPDA WINS 2 IIDA PRIDE AWARDS on THURSDAY MAY 27th~!

THAT MAKES 3 AWARDS for 2010!

Once again, Charles Pavarini III has taken home two awards in the 2010 IIDA (International Interior Design Association) P.R.I.D.E. Awards Competition held on Thursday, May 27th in Phoenix, Arizona.  Winning a Design Excellence Award  for 'The Lounge' we created for Kips Bay 2009 as well as an Award of Merit  for 'The Pavarini Thanksgiving', CPDA has yet again taken awards for all categories submitted.  This was a particularly interesting submission, as the two award categories two recent projects completed at two completely different ends of the design spectrum.

While the Traditional Feast for 20 showed the exuberantly festive and colorful style that Pavarini employs around Thanksgiving-time in the home, the much more subdued color palette yet increasingly complex Lounge
demonstrates prowess at innovation and architectural detailing of another caliber.  It's extremely impressive for 1 firm to be producing such phenomenal work, so different, within the same year.  It shows just how extraordinarily creative the team is and it beautifully showcases their ability to execute significant creative work.  BRAVO!!

SPRING AWAKENING! A Broadway Inspired Table Top Show at Le Beau Chateau

WE ARE THRILLED with the response to our Spring Awakening Fundraiser.  The opening night party on Wednesday, May 12th was a success.  All of the talented designers did a phenomenal job pulling-together their tabletops in light of their Broadway shows.  The Summer Theatre of New Canaan and its entourage performed major musical numbers from The Sound of Music, Hairspray, the Lion King, Jeckyll & Hyde, Mame, and other shows on the grand staircase in the center of the mansion, bringing the some 200 guests to tears and cheers as the night wore on.

WLIW came to film many aspects of the house featuring the New Canaan designers,  LXTV shot segments which will air on NBC on Sunday, May 29th, and newspapers and magazine journalists and photographers came all afternoon on Wednesday to cover the event.  It is certainly getting a lot of attention, and with good reason.  The showcase is extremely imaginative, colorful, and entertaining.

Charles Pavarini III himself produced this vignette for A Little Night Music.  It reflects the grandeur of the noble feast in the country with free-standing columns and ornamental buttresses with wisteria and ivy growing all over them.  Layered with sculptures, elaborate centerpieces and exceptional china by Bernardaud and crystal by Michael C. Fina, the vignette truly captures the essence of the show through Charles' keen design eyes.

I, J. Randall Tarasuk, created a somewhat cerebral vignette for Jeckyll & Hyde.  I mixed Mr. Hyde's laboratory into Dr. Jeckyll's home and set it off with contrasting items such as a conflicting pair of sconces and place-settings.  While Dr. Jeckyll's side is more staid and traditional, Mr. Hyde's is more avant-garde and sinister in feeling.  I had a lot of fun exploring my inner passion for science and its connection with this interior room setting.  Who said that Ehrlenmeyer Flask, beekers, bunson burners and test-tubes don't belong in a Dining Room?!
